Gas stowage on 535

10:08 Fri 29th Jan 2010

Boat Safety Regulations.
Has anyone managed to mount their gas cylinder to the satisfaction of the BSC inspectors? Maybe on the transome; but I can't find a suitable bracket. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello there, I know it has been over a year since you posted this query but I have just fabriated a bracket out of 20mm x20mm x3mm angle iron and 30mm x 3mm flat steel.
The materials cost me around twenty pounds including Hammerite and rust inhibitor.
It is designed to carry securely the 4.5 kg Calor gas bottles.
The flexy gas pipe has been located through the side of the splash well with a tight fitting grommet so no leeks here!
Luckily for me I can weld and own a welder so the fabrication was easy and all in all including the designing and fabrication it has taken around 8 hours to complete.
It is to be mounted on the transom next to the outboard and fixed with four M10 x 90mm stainless steel A2 grade bolts drilled through the transom.
If you would like to see pictures I can email them to you.
Cheers, John
