Black Hawk Windows

10:50 Mon 5th Oct 2009

Hello,

I am restoring my Black Hawk back to former glory. The previous owner did an poor job of changging the windows, and did not stick to original parts. I have browsed through the Shetland shop and Black Hawk is not covered, unless under another name i.e. MK ? does anyone know where I can source original parts i.e. window seals and windows.

Sorry is this is a silly question, new to owning a Shetland and still finding my feat.

Hello
The black hawk is one of the models that gives all owners problems with parts.
Its currently not listed in the shop, but will be by the end of the year; although it will only contain very few items.

To confirm the windows you have are not the originals?
If not, you may well struggle getting orginal parts as so few were made. If you can take a photo and email it to shetlandweb@hotmail.co.uk we can take a look and see if there is anything we can help with.
But anything like the windows - if they even can would be bespoke built and expensive.
Also, let us know what other parts you may be looking for.

Other members may know of ways they worked to get around some issues without being able to get original parts.

Thanks

Many thanks for the prompt reply post. The windows look to be add ons i.e. replacement for the originals. They were fitted by what looks like purchasing oversize windows and drilling through the fiberglass and securing with plastic screws, and what l assume is Sikaflex, nasty at best :).

I would have expected the original windows to be held in place by window rubbers or equivalent. The second best option is does anyone have an original picture showing how the windows were installed, mounted? that way I can try and match as close as possible, keeping in the spirit of the original.

The Shetland bespoke route I will have to pick up later, due to having so much to refurbish on the boat,

Thanks
